Day-by-day itinerary

Day1

Errachidia – Rissani – night at Erg Chebbi

Your trip begins on arrival in Errachidia. From here you drive towards the Sahara through the spectacular Ziz Valley, a lush palm grove that contrasts with the arid mountains.

The first stop is the historic town of Rissani. Explore its bustling traditional souks, which feel more authentic than those of Marrakech. Don’t miss the chance to try the local bread, Mahfia, or to visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif.

In the late afternoon you drive the final stretch to the monumental sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun begins to soften, you meet your camel and trek to the camp.

Once you have settled in, climb the nearest dune to watch a stunning sunset. The evening ends with a delicious dinner, traditional drumming around the campfire and a sky so clear that you can see the Milky Way.

Day2

Exploring the Desert – Khamlia – visiting nomads

Get up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast at the camp, you ride back by camel to the village of Merzouga.

Your first stop is the village of Khamlia, home to a Gnawa community. You are welcomed with a passionate Gnawa music performance that will get your feet moving.

From Khamlia you head into the desert by 4×4 to visit a Berber nomad family in their traditional tent. They welcome you with mint tea and offer an insight into their simple way of life.

Return to your hotel at the edge of the dunes for some free time. You can relax, swim or simply stroll along the edge of the sand before enjoying a relaxing dinner.

Day3

Merzouga – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Today is a long but spectacular day on the road. You leave Merzouga and travel through the Valley of Roses. Then you stop in the Dades Valley to see the famous rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers”.

Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco”. Stop for lunch and, if you have time, take a brief look at the magnificent Taourirt Kasbah.

A short drive takes you to iconic Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a stunning fortified town. You have time to explore its winding alleys and climb to the top for panoramic views.

From there you begin the dramatic climb over the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. You make several stops to photograph the stunning views before descending towards Marrakech.

In the early evening you are dropped off at your accommodation in Marrakech, bringing your desert adventure to a close.
