5-Days Tour from Rabat to Marrakech via the Desert

Rabat → Meknés → Fez

We pick you up at your hotel in Rabat and head for Meknes, where we visit the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the royal granaries and stables and its lively medina.

We continue to Fes, where we spend the night after a first look at the city.

Fez – visit with a local guide

We spend the whole day in Fes with a local guide, exploring one of the oldest medieval cities in the world: its medina, the souks, the Al Quaraouiyine mosque and university, the Bou Inania madrasa and the famous tanneries.

Fez → Ifrane → Midelt → Merzouga

We head south across the Middle Atlas. We stop in Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco”, and pass through cedar forests where Barbary macaques are sometimes seen, as well as Midelt and small Berber villages.

In the late afternoon we reach Merzouga, at the edge of the great sea of dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Merzouga → Erg Chebbi dunes → Dades Valley

We get up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes and enjoy a camel ride. We visit nomad villages before setting off for the Dades Valley.

The route offers spectacular scenery all the way to the Dades Valley, where we spend the night.

Dades → Todra → Ait Ben Haddou → Tizi n’Tichka → Marrakech

We travel through the Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses, passing the Todra Gorges. We visit the historic kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site and the setting for many films.

We cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass to reach Marrakech, where this grand tour of Morocco ends.
